TAG's EOD Chest Rig

by Tom Groff
(Rhode Island)

Might not say it's really my best piece of Kit, but it's a great item. Hanging tools in a thigh rig might seem high speed, but in practice, you can't see any of it with your armor on.

Tactical Assault Gear's got the only EOD specific chest rig I've found. It has a good layout even if it does get a bit tight when closing the zipper with tools in it.

Straps could use a bit of improvement with something more in line with Tactical Tailor's x-harness.

I had to add an elastic loop at the "x" where the straps cross to keep them sorted out and not get tangled. The other issue is that TAG doesn't actually keep a stock of all their items, so you need to search through vendors to try to find what you want sometimes.

All in all, a good piece of gear that is much easier to work out of with your tools in front of you and organized (and off the ground).

High Speed Gear makes a US made chest pouch called the DACH http://www.hsgi.us/proddetail.asp?prod=HSG%2DDACH

It is a multi-use chest rig which can easily adapt to the EOD mission. I personally don't like chest rigs because due to shoulder injuries the odd angle my arm is at when my hand is on my weapon when it is riding on top of the mag pouches that it causes my shoulder to ache.

I have recently taken a liking to the ICE Tactical belt and suspenders. I took my DACH and converted it to a shoulder hung bug out bag. I converted the tool compartment to hold my Glock 19, spare mags as well as the pockets already in it will handle my GPS, pens, maps, chemlights etc.
