Position: Firearms & Evasive Driving Instructor Position Number: WSG-TA-4390 Location(s): Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington, DCMetropolitan Area Type of Position: Independent Contractor, Part-Time, andFull-Time Number of Positions: Multiple Start Date: March 2008 Position Description: The contractor or employee shallprovide firearms and evasive driving instruction togovernment personnel traveling abroad. This is part of alarger AT/FP course and personnel will operate within thelarger program of instruction. Duties will includepreparing and reviewing lesson plans, briefing materials,and participants guides; providing classroom and practicalinstruction; and setting-up/tearing down the range and hardsurface driving course. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Responsibilities: Thoroughknowledge of Tactical Shooting techniques with pistol,carbine, and shotgun as well as evasive driving tactics toavoid and respond to criminal or terrorist attacks inforeign environments (both permissive and non-permissiveenvironments). General knowledge of the principles,practices and teaching techniques of tactical shooting;intimate knowledge of the M4 assault rifle, Sig SauerP228/P229, Beretta 92F, and Remington 870 shotgun. Abilityto demonstrate firearms techniques such as marksmanship,assembly and disassembly of selected firearms, and range andweapons safety. Applicants should have the ability toconduct hard surface driving under a variety of conditionsincluding evasive maneuvers in sedans and SUVs. Generalknowledge of the principles, practices and teachingtechniques of hard surface instinctive driving includingvehicle nomenclature, braking, steering management,traction, weight transfer, proper use of eyes, sensoryoverload, and attack recognition and response. Experienceteaching the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) aplus. Personnel must have the ability to analyze situationsand to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses ofaction with due regard to surrounding hazards andcircumstances. This position requires the ability to beable to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with employees and the general public, and beable to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.The ability to work effectively in a “politically sensitive”environment and maturity at all times is mandatory.Military or law enforcement experience required. Compensation: Pay is commensurate with qualifications andexperience. Independent Contractor (IC) rates vary between$175.00 - $350.00 per day.
